The Djinn Hunters — Nadia Niaz
The Djinn Hunters — Nadia Niaz
‘Nadia Niaz dances worlds into being. Hers is a rich and heady
poetry, unafraid to play with form, spun for us across contrasting worlds, languages, time, customs. It’s a poetry to savour, gasp and marvel at for its spirit of sustained and generous observation.’—Kevin Brophy
Nadia Niaz is the founder and editor of the Australian Multilingual Writing Project, an online journal publishing creative work that weaves together multiple languages. Her poetry has appeared in Rabbit, Not Very Quiet, Peril, and other national and international publications.
Nadia received her PhD in Creative Writing and Cultural Studies from the University of Melbourne, and has taught creative writing to everyone from pre-schoolers to postgraduates. She has been a Wheeler Centre Fellow and a member of the West Writers Group, has worked collaboratively with visual artists to produce original work, and has been a commissioned poet for the School of Anatomy, University of Melbourne’s Body Donation program’s annual thanksgiving service. When she’s not working with words, she’s usually lifting heavy things or dancing.
