Sydney Road Poems by Carmine Frascarelli

Shortlisted for the 2017 Mary Gilmore Award and Highly Commended in the Anne Elder Award, Sydney Road Poems is a multi-layered and visually complex work of art. Sketching the history of this particular stretch of Melbourne’s suburban sprawl through many decades, Frascarelli explores and investigates the history of the road and its buildings, and the political upheavals the area has witnessed. Heavy with research gleaned from the Local History Room at Brunswick library, Sydney Road Poems conveys concepts of habitation, migration and conflict with an erratic fluidity.

Carmine Frascarelli is a Melbourne-born and based poet, artist and furniture maker.
