Eileen Chong interviews joanne burns

 
 

‘As I’ve aged, I have developed a fairly relaxed attitude to writing poetry—it’s a form of play involving a mix of words, ideas, images, sounds, textures, shapes and rhythms—a pleasure that nothing else provides. The poem generates from nowhere, everywhere, or anywhere.’

joanne burns is a Sydney poet. Her most recent book is apparently, published by Giramondo in April 2019. She is very slowly assembling a Selected volume of her work published in book form since the early 1970s. 

Eileen Chong is a Sydney poet who was born in Singapore. She has had eight books published. Her most recent books are Rainforest from Pitt Street Poetry and Dark Matter from Recent Work Press.
